Curved Stairlifts.
Curved stairlifts are tailor-made to fit each individual staircase.
The rails can be manufactured to go around simple,
two dimensional bends or more complicated,
three dimensional bends, including spiral staircases.
State-of-the-art technology ensures that the chair
self-levels as it negotiates the route.
Curved Stairlift in operation on the stairs.
The rail is secured to the stairs, not the wall so, depending
on the configuration of the stairs, the lift can be fitted
on either side of the staircase. There is very little mess
incurred and no re-decorating will be required.

Curved Stairlift Dismount Position,
(when there is no room to park on landing).
There are four potential starting positions for the lift
depending on the shape of the stairs.
At the bottom of the stairs there could be a standard start,
similar to a straight stairlift, or the rail could be bent to.
provide a 90 degree or 180 degree start position.
In certain circumstances a hinged rail may be required.
The stairlift rail will protrude at the bottom of the stairs.
If there is a door or an open walkway at the bottom,
then this causes a potential tripping hazard.
Sometimes a guard rail can be fitted, which
forces people to walk around it and avoid the rail.
In other scenarios a hinged rail will need to be supplied.
Operating a hinged rail is fairly straightforward.
As the chair moves up the stairs the rail is automatically
raised to clear the hallway of the tripping hazard.
When the chair comes back down the rail senses it and
drops back down. The user then gets off (at ground level)
and uses the remote control to park the chair on step 3
on the staircase. Again the rail automatically rises
When the chair is required again the remote control
is used to call the rail and chair back down to ground level.
Curved Stairlift with a 180 degree wrap Parking Position.
There are also four potential dismount positions at the top,
again depending on the shape of the stairs.
If there is sufficient space on the landing then the rail
could continue in a straight line, or the rail could be bent
to provide a 90 degree or 180 degree finish position.
If there is insufficient room to take the chair onto the
landing the termination will be the same as for a straight lift.
At the top of the stairs the chair stops with the footplate level
with the landing and the chair swivels 90 degrees
to allow a safe dismount. This can be operated
manually or powered options can usually be supplied.
(Reputable companies will only allow the user to mount and
dismount on flat surfaces, never on fanned triangular steps).
